The Little Journal: November Newsletter
Dear reader,
November is here, and the rustle of autumn leaves tells us that the holidays are approaching. Whether it’s the wandering breeze that carries the smell of pine and woodsmoke or the stillness of cold evenings, November promises hopeful changes. Tell us what makes this month special for you in the comments.
Meanwhile, take a look at a few things we’ve put together for you.
Poem of the month
A Rain Tree Falls in Dighalipukhuri
By Amlanjyoti Goswami
You heard evening birds, A pandemonium of whispers. Early mornings, a sad old man Sleeping under it, dreaming hot May. Under the big rain tree Lived a night forest. The strange woman uttered deep profanities. Do you know where fruits come from? Come here, I will make you breathe. The moon just did the stars. Always overdressed, her rags A mountain even in summer. Another rag added, the next time you saw her. Leaves above, leaves under her feet. When the big tree fell, everyone came. Children from long ago, after school Saw ants crawl out, birds hatching, a snake slithering Into the watery dark where every tree became a story.
